Tax Deductions and Student Loans

We often receive questions asking about how doctors can deduct the interest paid on student loans.  While there are some years that you may be able to do this, their is one big obstacle that prevents most physicians from being able to take advantage of this.  Income limits.

 

 

You can reduce your income subject to tax by up to $2,500.

 

 

Limit on modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) 

$160,000 if married filing a joint return; 
$80,000 if single, head of household, or qualifying widow(er).
